Strawberry Patch

Ava Visits the Wise Acres Strawberry Patch
5/3/14

We got to visit a strawberry patch for the first time.  It is a newly established one called Wise Acres. The story behind it is really neat and it is run by a young family.  They not only have strawberries there, but DELICIOUS strawberry slushes and popcorn.  It looks as though they are growing more produce and I am hoping so bad that they are going to be opening up a little farmers market.  There are also chickens you can visit and there is a playground for kids to play on.

Ava wasn't too interested in the chickens which was surprising.  Ava was interested, however, in the playground but it was too big for her.

We were really proud of Ava.  She did really well considering she is only almost 17 months, and everything goes to her mouth.  She only tried to put one strawberry in her mouth.  Other than that, she helped mommy and daddy carry the baskets of strawberries and was very good at putting the red, ripe ones in the basket.

Even though going strawberry picking seems like nothing special, it is fascinating to watch your little ones and how they react to different situations and environments.  We were very pleased with how she did.

The only altercation was when we were leaving the patch and the basket was too heavy for Ava.  She was pretty upset because she wanted to eat those strawberries so bad and thought we were not going to give her any...

Once we were home, she was a happy girl as she sat in her seat and scarfed down some tasty strawberries!!!!
