Ava Elizabeth
17 months...SO BIG!
Look at that face! Couldn't you just squeeze those cheeks? I sure could..and I sure do! I have noticed so much growth in Ava this month, but have done an AWFUL job documenting them. It is much harder to write down the different things I am noticing my girls do when there are two of them that keep me very, very, very busy.
Ava is really catching on to words and directions. She is able to throw trash in the trashcan and put dirty clothes in the hamper. She can also do a few other things, but those are my favorite. I definitely think she understands a lot more than she can say.
Ava can say a few more words than last month. She just still doesn't use them a lot on her own without us coercing her to say things. When she is talking on her own, it still mostly sounds like jibberish. She can now say milk, more, keys, car, Bible, Jesus, thank you, flower, and eat. There may be some others, but those are the ones I can remember now.
Ava is a typical 17 month old. She loves to explore and test the limits. She is extremely strong willed, stubborn, and determined. I love those qualities in her, but they can be very hard to channel in the correct way. She has had to spend a good amount of her 17th month in time out.
in timeout...probably for climbing the butcher block |
On a funnier note, my child has even made the best out of time out. She figured out she can lean up against the cabinets and slide down to the floor. While she does that she says "Weeeee!" SO IRRITATING!
Ava loves to play, especially any kind of play that involves outdoors. She LOVES the park and we try to go there as often as we can. She loves the swings, the sandbox (she tried eating the sand, but I don't think she was a fan), and her new favorite is the slides.

Ava is getting taller and clothes are getting tighter :( It makes this mommy sad because the little baby is no longer there...she hardly looks like a baby anymore. Her hair is getting longer and I have a lot of fun playing with her hair. It isn't always easy. As long as she is in the high chair and has a little something to watch on tv, she does pretty well for me.
Enjoying Mrs. Deanna's milkshake...THANKS! |
We got to visit a strawberry patch this month, hunt for Easter eggs, and try our first milkshake.

Ava keeps mommy and daddy on their toes...ALWAYS! She can be rather difficult to take places because she doesn't like to cooperate these days. I will say disciplining a classroom full of students was often easier to do than disciplining your own child.
Things I love and remember about this month:
- Ava hunting for eggs
- getting so excited when daddy gets home from work
- toppling down the hill in our backyard and grandma and grandpa's front yard
- picking strawberries and putting them in the basket
- devouring the milkshake...not even coming up for a breath
- reactions to things in stories we read and movies she loves
- dancing every time she hears music
- playing ring around the rosey and saying "gin" because she wants to do it again
- interacting more with kids
- that smile and those teeth (can someone say orthodontics...haha)
- loving on her sissy...constantly!
- hugs and kisses from her are always enjoyed immensely!
Here are some other cute pictures from this month:
